Alef News 2025/26

B"H

Dear Parents,

It has been a true privilege to serve as Director of TBS and now the Alef School. I have deeply treasured the opportunity to work with each of you and your wonderful children.

As I step down from my role as Director, I’m excited to continue my journey at Alef by teaching our 2-year-old class this school year. I will also be available to support our new Director as needed, and I’m grateful for your continued trust and support.

During my time as Director, I’ve witnessed remarkable growth, joyful milestones, and countless inspiring moments in our classrooms. The memories we’ve created together—celebrating successes, overcoming challenges, and nurturing the curiosity of each child—will forever hold a special place in my heart.

This decision to step back from leadership was made thoughtfully, with my family and time commitments in mind. It is entirely my own. My love for the Alef School, its families, and each child I've had the honor to serve remains as strong as ever.

I look forward to staying an active part of our vibrant school community and it is my privilege to introduce to you and welcome our exceptional new Director, Morah Bassi Katz, into her new role.

We have been working together over the past few weeks to ensure a smooth transition and start to a new school year.

I will continue with the director role through the end of this summer Kiddie Camp and will continue as teacher of the 2 year old class for the 2025/26 school year.
I can be reached via email at Director@AlefSchool.com through the end of Kiddie Camp where i will be responding to emails about Kiddie Camp. Please note that Bassi and I are both using this email through the end of Kiddie camp when Bassi will be the director of Alef Preschool.

Most sincerely,
Morah Debbie

My name is Bassi Katz and I am truly honored to introduce myself as the new Preschool Director at Alef Preschool.

I come to this role with great excitement, a deep love for early childhood, and over two decades of experience nurturing and guiding young learners.

For the past 23 years, I have had the privilege of working with preschool-aged children in a variety of settings across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Bergen County. These years have deepened my belief that the early years are not only foundational for academic growth, but also for building confidence, curiosity, kindness, and a lifelong love of learning.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science and a master’s degree in education from Touro College. My approach as an educator is rooted in the understanding that every child is unique and full of potential. I strive to foster an environment in which each child feels safe, seen, and celebrated.

Beyond the classroom, I live in Tenafly, NJ with my husband and our twelve wonderful children. As both a parent and an educator, I understand the importance of building strong partnerships between school and home, and I am committed to creating a warm and collaborative relationship with each family.

I have been working with Morah Debbie for the past few weeks as she transfers her responsibilities in a most caring manner. I have also had the privilege to meet many of you and your beautiful children at school recently. I look forward to meeting everyone, getting to know you and working together to support your children during these joyful and important early years.

I can be reached at Director@AlefSchool.com and will be responding to emails regarding next year's school year, while Morah Debbie uses the email through the end of this summer Kiddie camp.

Morah Debbie and I invite you to a parent’s evening of schmooze, meet and greet, children are welcome. Light Pizza dinner, refreshments, arts n crafts and games for the kids. Hear a little about what we are planning for the upcoming school year.
