Counselor / Teaching Support for School Remote-Learning Program (Grades K-8) Multiple positions available Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 am to 4 pm. Work will be in 2 shifts of 4 hours (8am-12, 12-4pm). Flexible days possible. Candidates must be available for at least 4 shift per week. Location: Fair Lawn, NJ (in-person) Compensation: $15 per hour. No benefits. 
 

Bris Avrohom of Fair Lawn provides local parents and students with a safe, nurturing and supportive space where students from K to 8th grade can attend to do their online/virtual classes. We are looking for tech savvy college students or grads, retired educators, or experienced counselors who love working with kids, to supervise small cohorts of up to 10 students with Virtual Learning at our facility during the fall and winter months. Students will bring their devices and schoolwork to the center for support and assistance during remote learning with their school district's classroom teacher.

You will NOT be providing direct instruction, your purpose is to provide the student support, assistance and guidance while the student is engaged with their Virtual Instruction, help keep the student on-task and answer questions they may have, as well as communicate with parents and assist students with homework assignments as needed. 
 

Under the general supervision of the Director, the P/T Counselor assumes overall responsibilities for directing room activities, provides technical assistance (Google Classroom, Zoom, Email, Print/Scan etc.), assists in explaining assignments to students and generally helping them navigate their daily schedules and remote learning activities. In addition, the Counselor will supervise recreational activities to ensure students’ health and safety. 
 

Additional responsibilities include: 
• Assessing student needs and facilitating their daily virtual classroom navigation 
• Providing students with clear and concise information and directions 
• Providing technical assistance and supervision to students with their devices and activities 
• Using computer applications, specifically Google Suite, Zoom, YouTube, web, email, scan and print 
• Attending meetings, as requested. 
• Providing updates to parents as requested 
• Supervising and assisting in keeping safety, social distancing, and disinfecting protocols as well as keeping the student areas clean and organized 
• Serving lunch or facilitate/oversee student’s lunch period as needed 
Requirements: 
• Current college student or recent grad, or retired educator. Will also consider High School Junior or Senior (must have working papers) 
• Technologically savvy, especially with Google Suite and Google Classroom, Zoom, Web, Email, Office Suite etc. 
• Articulate, patient, with a good sense of humor 
• Prior experience working with children of various age groups ideal 
• As this is a religious institution, a knowledge of and respect for Judaic customs is ideal, but not required. Successful candidates must agree to abide by Code of Conduct and Kosher laws as directed.
